Canon EOS 50D Example Photo

The EOS 50D. With a 15.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor, 6.3 frames per second shooting and Canon’s latest DIGIC 4 image processor.

A newly designed 15.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor delivers ultra-detailed, low-noise images – ideal for large-scale reproduction or creative cropping. New manufacturing processes, plus redesigned photo diodes and microlenses, extend the light gathering capabilities of the sensor – allowing more pixels to be fitted on the CMOS sensor without compromising image quality. These changes ensure improved high ISO performance and low noise. High-speed, low light shooting is enabled by ISO levels of 3200, expandable to an ultra-sensitive 12800.

The EOS Integrated Cleaning System – including the improved Self Cleaning Sensor Unit with a new fluorine coating – increases protection of image quality by helping to reduce, repel and remove unwanted dust from the sensor. Stubborn particles can be removed automatically in post-production with Dust Delete Data and Canon’s included Digital Photo Professional software.

Nikon Coolpix P6000 Camera with GPS

The camera’s superb image quality is guaranteed by an effective 13.5 megapixels, the wide-angle 4x zoom NIKKOR lens including 2 ED glass elements and Nikon’s image-processing system EXPEED. The built-in GPS, RAW support, and integrated Ethernet connector for image sharing via Nikon's ‘my Picturetown’ make it one of the most advanced compact cameras on the market today. Thanks to its attractive, intelligent design with an SLR-like grip for perfect handling, user-friendly button layout and 2.7-inch high-resolution TFT screen, it’s easy to use - allowing you to concentrate on the shooting.

Mark Pekelharing, Product Manager Consumer Products at Nikon Europe B.V, says: “This new compact camera sets new standards for the compact camera market. Nikon is known for introducing advanced features in both its D-SLR and compact cameras. With the introduction of this GPS model, Nikon proves to be at the forefront of technology once again. The high-quality materials and feature list otherwise only found in high-end cameras will appeal to the discerning user.”

Only the best images
The COOLPIX P6000 is packed with groundbreaking technology to ensure the highest possible image quality from a compact body. Its 13.5 effective megapixels, the use of Nikon’s exclusive image-processing system EXPEED (originally designed for its professional D-SLRs) and a wide-angle 4x Zoom-NIKKOR lens with two ED glass elements (28-112 mm) leave nothing to be desired. The camera’s image quality is further reinforced by its ability to shoot images in RAW format, and Picture Control capabilities, taken from D-SLR products. Furthermore it features three functions to reduce image blur. High-performance Lens-shift Vibration Reduction (VR) allows sharp pictures with minimal blur and offers the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed three stops faster. Its superior noise-reduction technology allows a sensitivity range up to ISO 6400. Nikon’s Best Shot Selector allows the camera to take a maximum of 10 sequential shots and automatically saves the sharpest image. This is ideal for macro close-up shooting when camera shake is most likely.

The easiest operation
To get the most out of the COOLPIX P6000’s technology, Nikon has invested the greatest care to ensure it is easy to use. For freedom in exposure control, there is a choice of four exposure modes (P/S/A/M) allowing the user to finely control the camera or to let the camera decide what's best. Fifteen Scene Modes, including modes for tough-to-shoot environments such as beach/snow, sunset, dusk/dawn and fireworks shows, mean you’ll capture even the trickiest subjects perfectly. There are six colour options for special colour effects similar to those obtained using a filter. The improved Face-priority AF recognises up to 12 faces for both superb portrait photography and crisp group images, even when faces are underexposed in backlit conditions or overexposed in strong sunshine. Should ‘red eye’ occur, the In-camera Red-Eye Fix activates at exposure and automatically reduces and corrects it.

D-Lighting automatically ensures images look natural, rescuing underexposed images caused by excessive backlight or insufficient flashlight. Distortion Control ensures precise subject reproduction and avoids the image distortion that occurs at wide-angle zoom settings or at the peripheries of an image. COOLPIX in-camera Picture Control, based on the technology from Nikon's award winning D-SLRs, allows the user to flexibly control shooting situations. The camera’s movie function, with the built-in time-lapse movie mode (at up to 640x480 pixels in 30fps), further strengthens the range of creative options.

Share your quality
The COOLPIX P6000 is the first consumer camera with a built-in Ethernet connector, allowing users to share images effortlessly. Upload images to Nikon’s ‘my Picturetown’ - simply connect the camera by LAN cable and share them with others over the internet. This is also useful as a backup when on the road. The camera’s incorporated GPS function will attach a Geotag with positioning information to image files which can then be used on Nikon's ‘my Picturetown’ website, ViewNX or any other website that can handle Geotags, to indicate the precise location of your images.

The COOLPIX P6000 inherits the design of Nikon’s award-winning P5000 series with further refinements. Its SLR-like grip, for example, is of perfect size, shape and texture for great handling. The ergonomic button layout has been designed considering finger movements during shooting and, to make sure it looks its best, the light and durable magnesium alloy on the front surface of the body will make the COOLPIX P6000 desired by all who recognise quality.

The COOLPIX P6000 comes with a strap, rechargeable battery and AC adapter, USB and audio/video cables, COOLPIX software suite and free 2GB online storage at Nikon's ‘my Picturetown’.

Samsung MX20 digital camcorder

Seoul, Korea, August 21, 2008 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled a powerful compact digital camcorder, the MX20, with its newly developed platform that enables higher video quality and longer recording times. The new MX20 also allows users to upload their files to iPod and YouTube™ without transcoding the files.
“The MX20 is the next-generation camcorder engineered for people who want to capture more vivid memories and easily share them on multimedia devices and the internet,” said Sang Ryong Kim, Senior Vice President of the Camcorder Business Team at Samsung Electronics. “Leveraging Samsung’s unique features with iPod and YouTube™, consumers can keep more of their memories with ease.”

High Performance with New Camcorder Platform
With its best-in-class semi-conductor chips and image processing technology, Samsung has developed a new platform offering high video quality, longer recording times and low power consumption for SD camcorders to meet customer’s demands. With the high performance of the new platform, Samsung’s MX20 features the longest battery life in its class – up to three hours.

Longer Recording Times with Samsung’s H.264 Technology
The new MX20 is the first to apply H.264 CODEC to SD camcorders. Compared to SD camcorders using MPEG-2, the MX20’s H.264 enhances video quality and recording times significantly. In the “fine” mode, Samsung’s MX-20 camcorder can record up to 4 hours of footage using an 8GB memory card, 8 hours using a 16GB memory card, and up to 16 hours using a 32GB card. Samsung’s MX20 with H.264 more than doubles the compression ratio so that it takes less time to send video files via email or upload them onto the internet.

Optimized for High Quality Video
Focusing on high video quality, Samsung’s MX20 with its new platform is packed with powerful technologies such as 3-D noise reduction technology for smooth video, Samsung’s own edge filter technology for stunning video details and clarity, and color control technology for original and natural colors.

The MX20 features a powerful, world-renowned Schneider lens with 34x optical zoom and Samsung’s improved Hyper Digital Image Stabilization, which compensates for the images caused by hand-shaking for sharper footage. The MX20 also includes advanced face detection technology which can automatically detect up to five faces and adjust the focus and diaphragm to ensure better composition. The new model optimizes the video quality with a high-performance 680K-pixel CCD sensor.

iPod and YouTube™ Friendly
The MX20 features a unique shooting mode that allows users to select a resolution and format that’s ideal for uploading videos to an iPod or YouTube™. Unlike other camcorders, users can easily import the video to iTunes and play it on iPod or other personal media players supporting H.264 without having to transcode the files. By selecting the Web & Mobile mode, the camcorder’s resolution is automatically adjusted to 640x480 (H.264 / AAC / MP4) and optimized for use on iPod or YouTube™.

Sophisticated Ease for Active Users
For active users, the MX20 is fully equipped with powerful functionalities in a stylish compact design. The camcorder offers Samsung’s exclusive swivel hand-grip which effortlessly adjusts for regular and those hard-to-reach low angle shots. It also has an advanced 2.7 inch screen LCD which helps users frame their subjects and review footage even under strong sunlight.

The MX20 offers useful iCheck and iScene modes. iCheck allows the user to quickly check remaining battery life and memory capacity without wasting time and energy by powering on; iScene allows the user to select up to 10 automatic scene modes for capturing the best footage no matter what environment they may be in. Samsung’s MX-20 camcorder also features a memory card slot for SD/SDHC and MMC+ (up to 32GB).

The Samsung MX20, offered in black, white, red and blue will be available in September.
